Abstract

Réacteur nucléaire ayant une source de neutrons pour le démarrage. De manière à accroître la vie de la source de neutrons 44, la source de neutrons est associée à une barre de commande qui, durant la marche normale du réacteur, est retirée du coeur, de sorte que la source de neutrons n'est pas normalement exposée au flux élevé à l'intérieur du coeur. Avec cette disposition, la vie de toute source de neutrons est accrue mais il est possible en outre d'utiliser une combinaison de plutonium 238, béryllium à longue période de réactivité et de coût relativement faible.
