Abstract

The concrete lamppost is hollow and tapers gently from base to top. A circular disc (2) is mounted on top and supports an array of lamps (3). A ladder (4) is attached to the lamp-post to provide access for maintenance and replacement of bulbs. A platform (5) just below the disc is free to rotate around the lamp-post mounted on roller bearings (7) fixed to the post. The platform can be manually propelled around the post by a handle (10) attached to a screw. A key (11) fixes the platform in position. This allows all the lamps to be safely and conveniently reached from the platform. The outer end of the platform (12) can be swung through 90 deg. to a vertical position when not in use to prevent blockage of light.
