Abstract

The pump (3) is intended for moving liquid from a vacuum chamber (1) to a chamber (2) at higher pressure. It comprises a housing (4) with tangential outlet connection (6) containing a rotor (7), the liquid reaching the rotor in axial direction via an inlet connection (5). The rotor has feed duct (10) between itself and the housing wall to move the liquid. Each of these ducts is formed as a syphon connected with the suction chamber (11) of the rotor, through which the liquid is first made to flow in radially outward direction and is then deflected inwardly to an outlet orifice (15). The chamber (11) is connected with the gas space in the vacuum chamber (1) and is sealed (20) relative to the housing.
