Abstract

A continuous conveyor transports loaded plates successively through the cooking chamber. The conveyor has stations for loading uncooked pizzas and discharging cooked pizzas, both stations being accessible from the outside of the oven. The conveyor has horizontally moving paddles which displace the plates along horizontal slide rails extending longitudinally through the oven chamber. The oven has a single access opening in its front wall through which the conveyor extends presenting both loading and discharge stations, side-by-side. The paddles are pref. curved to fit around the driven side of each plate. The plate is automatically disengaged from its driving paddle when the paddle passes through the discharge station, e.g. by a lifting cam. Bath loading and discharge stations are accessible from a single operator posn. at the front end of the oven. Each paddle can be maintained individually without dismantling the oven. The oven can be adapted for different capacities by modular extension.
