Abstract

A radiographic or gamma graphic recording process involves first exposing to X or gamma rays a compsn. contg. (a) 1 or 2 salts of a particular metal (when there are 2 salts they correspond to different valencies of the metal, e.g. Hg+ and Hg2+; Cu+ and Cu2+; Fe2+ and Fe3+; when there is only one salt, this has the lower valency, e.g. Hg+, Cu+, Fe2+, Pb2+, Sn2+); (b) an oxalate; (c) >=1 complexing agent of the metal; (d) optionally, >=1 electron-donor cpd.; (e) >=1 film-forming binding agent. Constituents (a)-(e) are contained in >=1 layer(s) on an appropriate support. The exposed emulsion is then heated at 90-200 degrees C for 2 s - 2 mn, so as to develop the latent image. The process can be used partic. in the medical field. The process is relatively simple to use. The compsns. are not sensitive to visible or ultraviolet light, and can thus be handled in daylight.
