Abstract

The heatings element has an insulating body with an electric heating resistance attached. the insulating body (2) is connected to a metal grid (18). The latter is embedded, at least partly, in the insulating body and is located on the opposite side of it from the heating resistance (14). The insulating body is pot-shaped (or toroidal) with the heating resistance on the floor of the pot (or toroid). The metal grid may also be pot-shaped (or toroidal). The advantage lies in the metal grid's lending the insulating body extra strength whilst having little or no effect on its thermal insulation properties.
