Abstract
A gas drier has a Peltier effect refrigeration device and a separate ice-melting device. Pref. the cold source of the Peltier effect device is connected to a hollow body contg. a conical refrigeration chamber which is narrowest adjacent to the cold source. This gives an even temp. over the interior wall of the chamber. The ice formed from the vapour in the gas being dried is pref. melted by a heating resistor which can be moved through the base of the chamber to wards or away from the narrower end. The base may be attached to the body through an insulating ring or sleeve. The drier is used for drying gases contg. water vapour. The use of temps. 0 degrees C ensures that the residual water content is very low, avoiding the risk of condensation in pipes etc. in the gas distribution network.
