Abstract

The frost protection prevents the freezing of the water column remaining in the spray lance (11, 12) when the high-pressure cleaning device is not in operation. A control element (29, 30) interacts with the shut-off valve of the spray lance (11, 12) in such a manner that, on reduction of the high water pressure, it is ensured that a minimum amount of water flows through the spray lance (11, 12), so that freezing up is prevented by means of the minimum flow through the spray lance (11, 12). The control element consists of bypass openings (31, 34) within the valve plunger (20) of the shut-off valve, the flow cross-section of which bypass openings (31, 34) is controllable, a second valve plunger (30) being arranged in the flow cross-section (33, 43) of the bypass openings (31, 34) which, in the case of high water pressure, closes the flow cross-section (33, 43) against the force of a spring (29) and, in the case of low water pressure, releases the flow cross-section (33, 43) by means of the force of the spring (29).
