Abstract

The jar stopper has a central plate or may have a metallic plate surrounded by plastics material. The outside edge of the plate has a flanged cylinder which fits inside the neck of the jar and sits on top of the rolled edge. The outside of the cylinder may have a serrated edge to increase the grip. The lid is kept in position by means of the strip which fits under the rolled edge and over the top of the lid. The lid has a hined lever to pull it tight and the lever may be seaaed against unauthorised opening.
