Abstract

After cleaning and removing all dirt, and filling in any porosities, cracks, etc. on the inner wall of the tank, an undercoat is applied as a preliminary to the reconditioning and/or lining of the tank. When this has dried, a coating of polymerisable resin is laid on by means of a roller. This is not applied to excess and is sufficient to bond the glass fibre mat or fabric pressed on by the roller, so that the resin penetrates it completely. The edges of the adjacent sheet of fibrous material is made to overlap so that raised seams are formed which act as reinforcements round the inner walls of the tank. The technique saves the large amts. of rsein necessary when the lining is applied by a spray gun, and makes a very thick lining unnecessary.
