Abstract
Verres légers et très réfringents. Ils sont constitués, pour plus de 80 % en moles, d'oxydes métalliques de poids moléculaires inférieurs ou égaux à 100, tels que SiO2 (de 24 à 30 %), B2 O3 (de 17 à 23 %), SiO2 + B2 O3 (de 41 à 48 %), oxydes de métaux alcalins (jusqu'à 8 %), MgO + CaO (de 12 à 22 %) et TiO 2 (de 17 à 21 %) et, pour moins de 20 % en moles, d'oxydes métalliques de poids moléculaires supérieurs à 100, tels que La2 O 3 , P2 O5 , BaO, SrO, PbO, Al2 O3 , etc. Ces verres, qui ont des indices de réfraction compris entre 1,77 et 1,81 et des densités comprises entre 3,4 et 3,8, peuvent servir à la fabrication de lentilles pour lunettes.
