Abstract

Syringe e.g. of 10 ml capacity and used in synoviorthesis, is protected by a glass sleeve (2) 5 mm thick, attached to the syringe (1) by a bayonet joint so it can be fitted simply and quickly. The syringe itself is preferably made from a synthetic resin material such as plexiglass (RTM), and the sleeve has grooves at its upper end to prevent is from slipping in relation to the fingers when an injection is being performed.

Description

The present invention relates to the protection of syringes (1) used in synovorthesis (10 ml syringe)
This therapy requires large joints (shoulder, knee) of yttrium 90 which is a pure beta emitter of 2.284 Mev thus resulting in a dose rate in contact with the syringes of 4 to 6 Gy / h. The personnel involved in both preparations that in the therapeutic act include very large dose equivalents, despite very short handling times
The device according to the invention consists of a glass syringe protector (2) with a thickness of 5mm for stopping electronic radiation and in particular beta rays
The mode of attachment to the syringe bayonet (1) allows it to be immobilized in the syringe guard (2). Streaks made in the upper part of the syringe guard prevent it from slipping between the fingers during the injection.
This device can be adapted to any type of syringe, and, for manipulations other than therapy, in particular the use of phosphorus 32 (p32) in biology laboratories
The syringe protector according to the invention will, in the presence, be made of glass, while the syringe will preferably be made of synthetic resin of the wplexiglass type ".
