Abstract

L’invention se rapporte à un matériau inorganique se présentant sous la forme de particules poreuses, qui est doté d’une grande capacité à capturer l’iode à l’état gazeux lorsqu’il est mis en contact avec cet iode et qui, une fois chargé en iode, peut être transformé, par un traitement thermique, en une céramique de la famille des apatites dans laquelle l’iode est confiné. Chacune des particules de ce matériau comprend :1) un vanadate ou phosphovanadate de plomb de formule (1) :Pb3-xXx(VO4)2-2 y(PO4)2 y (1)dans laquelle :x = 0 ou x > 0 mais ≤ 0,33 ;y = 0 ou y > 0 mais < 1 ;X = Ba2+, Ca2+, Sr2+ ou Cd2+ ; et2) du plomb métal ou un sel de plomb. L’invention se rapporte également à un procédé de préparation du matériau ainsi qu’aux utilisations dudit matériau. Applications : conditionnement et stockage dans une matrice de l’iode radioactif présent dans les effluents gazeux produits au cours du traitement des combustibles nucléaires usés et, en particulier, de l’iode-129.
