Abstract

1,217,536. Texturising yarns. GLANZSTOFF A.G. 31 Jan., 1968 [1 Feb., 1967; 16 March, 1967; 19 June, 1967; 14 Dec., 1967 (2)], No. 4887/68. Headings D1F and D1W. A fluid jet for interlacing the filaments or fibres, without forming loops, of one or more yarns comprises a yarn duct, a fluid inlet opening into the duct, and a resonance chamber opposite the inlet, the sum of the width of the duct and the depth of the chamber being at least 2.2 times the smallest cross-sectional dimension of the chamber. The axis of the inlet and chamber may be perpendicular to, or form an obtuse angle to the axis of the yarn duct. The yarn duct may flare outwardly towards the yarn entry, or the inlet portion may be of greater cross-section than the outlet portion the transition between the two portions occuring downstream of the fluid inlet. The fluid inlet may contain one or more helical inserts to form the fluid stream into two or more whirling streams. There may be more than one fluid inlet. The jet may be formed as an insert in an arm pivotally mounted on an air supply pipe and having a bore connecting the fluid inlet to an aperture in the pipe in one position of the arm. It is stated that the. interlaced yarn has knots which in contradistinction to the prior art are not sharply delimited.
