Abstract
1,237,155. Fireproofing cotton. AMERICAN CYANAMID CO. 28 Oct., 1969 [15 Nov., 1968], No. 52831/69. Heading D1P. [Also in Division C2] Cotton batting is rendered fireproof by impregnation with 2-20% of a guanylurea phosphate-formaldehyde condensate which may be applied, optionally together with an aminoplast resin, e.g. partially methylated trimethylolmelamine or 1, 3-dimethylol-4, 5-dihydroxyethylene urea, and an acrylic resin, from an aqueous solution. The resins may be cured by heating e.g. at 150-400F. At the higher temperatures the condensate may react with the cotton.
