Abstract
1,237,182. Forging. SMERALOVY ZAVODY. 25 March, 1970 [27 March, 1969], No. 14396/70. Heading B3H. A workpiece feeding arrangement for a multioperational press comprises three pairs of jaws 1, 1a, 1b, 2, 2a, 2b which are opened at a predetermined part of the press cycle and which are reciprocated by a control device which also triggers the start of the press cycle. The device comprises a pair of cams 42, 102 on a shaft 44. The cam 102 operates a switch through a lever 104 to start the press and the cam 42 has a pair of followers 45, 46 which serve to reciprocate a rod 52 connected to slipper blocks 9, 10 connected by beams 5, 8, Fig. 2. The jaws are mounted on bell-cranks 3, 6 pivoted to the beams and connected by rods 18, 29 to a crankarm 40, Fig. 1, on the end of a shaft 41. The shaft 41 is angularly displaced by a lever 81 with a cam follower 80 engaged with a slide 76. The slide is reciprocated through linkage 73, 67, 69 by a cam follower 70 which runs on a cam 71 on the press ram 72. Thus the jaws are automatically opened as the ram descends. The cam follower 70 is moved away from the cam 71 as the ram is raised by a cam 43 keyed to the shaft 44 and operating through linkage 99a, 65, 66, 67, 69.
