Abstract

1,237,444. Ladle stoppers. MAGNESITA S.A. 26 Aug., 1968 [5 Jan., 1968], No. 40670/68. Heading F4B. A ladle stopper rod comprises a stopper head 6 formed with a first central cylindrical cavity having a flat bottom with a second central screw-threaded cavity, a stopper rod 1 with a flange 4 and screw-threaded stub 5 co-operating with said second cavity and a sleeve 2 extending slightly above the surrounding edge of the first cylindrical cavity. The head 6 may have a recess surrounding the first cavity (Figs. 1, 12 and 13) or a raised collar (Figs. 5, 6, 11 and 14). The stopper rod may have conventional refractory sleeves and the interstices between parts may be filled with refractory mortar. The stub 5 and lower surface of the flange 4 may be provided with grooves to permit escape of excess mortar. The stub may be separately screwed into the flange 4.
