Abstract

1,259,082. Treating wool-synthetic blend fabrics. INTERMACOM A.G. 16 Jan., 1970 [16 Jan., 1969], No. 2175/70. Heading DIP. A wash-proof non-iron finish is given to a wool-synthetic fibre blend textile by a process comprising (a) wet or dry fixing the wool component, (b) thermally fixing the synthetic component, and (c) impregnating the fixed fabric with a polymer or prepolymer which is capable of forming an elastic film insoluble in aqueous media and dry cleaning solvents. As disclosed, a wool-polyester blend is treated with monoethanolamine sulphite in boiling water, heated at 195‹C on a tenter and subsequently impregnated with a polyurethane precondensate, which is cured on the fabric at 100-120‹C. The fabric may be permanently pleated using heat and pressure. Other fabric blends and impregnants are listed.
