Abstract
137,139. Russell, R. Jan. 30, 1919. Soles.-Reinforced composite material to be used for soling boots &c. is produced from layers of composite material, such as a mixture of leather, rubber, mineral earths and vulcanizing substances, or rubber, cotton or other fibrous material, glue &c. with or without mineral earths, which are corrugated on one or both sides, and textile material which is separately and correspondingly corrugated before being applied to the composite material, the whole being united in a press with the corrugations interlocking According to one construction, the reinforced material comprises two layers of composite material corrugated on their inner surfaces and a central reinforcement of corrugated textile material. The construction shown in Fig. 2 comprises two outer layers c, d, of composite material, corrugated on their inner surfaces, a central layer e of composite material corrugated on both sides, and two intermediate sheets b of corrugated textile material, the corrugations being of substantially triangular cross-section. The textile material may be woven with the warp threads stronger than the weft, or vice versa, and arranged between the composite layers with the stronger threads parallel to the corrugations.
