Abstract
1373473 Gettering SIEMENS AG 3 Jan 1973 [1 Feb 1972] 301/73 Addition to 1329628 Heading H1D Specification 1,329,628 claims a getter comprising a highly porous sintered mixture of at least 70% weight of zirconium and up to 30% by weight carbon and housed in an open container of high temperature resistant material. The present Specification is concerned with a method of making such a getter including the steps of adding to the above mixture up to 50% of the weight thereof of at least one compound selected from the ammonium salts of carbon dioxide or of organic acids and thereafter performing the sintering operation. Suitable salts are the oxalate, carbonate or carbamate. A small amount of binder may also be added, e.g. nitrocellulose, or ethyl cellulose in an organic solvent.
