Abstract
1522425 Transformers H BANET and E PALACIN 26 June 1976 26705/76 Heading H1T [Also in Division B3] A transformer core of E and T laminations (Fig. 2) is made. by cutting the laminations without waste from a strip of magnetic material in a method which involves (a) stamping two T laminations 20, 30, leaving an H-shaped aperture, (b) shearing the strip along the line 52 which is the median line of the bar of the H, and (c) shearing the strip along the line 62. The laminations so formed are assembled to form stacks of E and T laminations, and the two stacks are assembled on a coil former which holds the stacks together (Fig. 3, not shown). In modifications, (a) the stem of the T may be cut short to provide an air gap in the central core leg (Fig. 4, not shown), (b) the dimensions may be varied to provide a core with three legs of equal width for a three-phase transformer (Figs. 5a and 5b, not shown), (c) interlocking notches and projections may be provided in the laminations, and (d) projections may be provided on the laminations to hold the coil former. As shown the T laminations are cut with the bar of the T parallel to the strip length. However a method where this bar is perpendicular to the strip length is envisaged.
