Abstract
A process for cleaning iron turnings containing oil or oil and water which comprises the step of: i) intensively treating the iron turnings with a washing liquid; ii) at least partially separating the washed iron turnings from the washing liquid by means of a magnetic separator; iii) drying the separated turnings; iv) regenerating the washing liquid by substantially separating the oil- containing substituents from the contaminated washing liquid; and v) recycling the thus regenerated washing liquid to step i). e
