Teaching arithmetic; number-building apparatus.-In apparatus for demonstrating the meaning of fractions, of the kind in which sectors representing various fractions of a circle are assembled in a circular cavity to form a part or the whole of a circle, the cavity is formed in a support b and is surrounded by an indicator c having marks d, d<1>, d<2>, Fig. 1, or clips h, Fig. 3, for showing the sum of the fractions formed by various combinations of sectors a. Sectors representing different fractions, and the corresponding marks or clips on the indicator may be differentiated by colour. The sectors are secured in the cavity by engagement with a knob e, Fig. 1, on the support b, and an undercut g in the indicator, or the sectors may have rubber pads i, Fig. 3, for engaging holes in the support. The support may consist of a wood frame in which is fixed a sheet of cardboard having a circular aperture.
