Abstract
242,543. Beck, A. May 28, 1925. Channels and reservoirs in chains.-Each inner link of a chain is formed with an internal oil chamber from which oil is fed to the pins and rollers. Each inner link is formed of two plates a, b, Fig. 2, secured together by a hollow member c pressed into undercut recesses in the plates and forming a chamber e supplied with oil through a valved filling opening f. Oil passes through channels g, h in the member c and plate b respectively and through bushes i to annular grooves m on the pins k, from which it is distributed along the pins by grooves n. Oil passes to the rollers p through holes o. In the modification shown in Fig 8, the inner links are formed of single plates a in which flanged members q are inserted to form the oil chambers e which are supplied from a tube r through passages u. In another modification each inner link is formed of three plates, the middle one of which is cut away to form the oil chamber and channels.
