Abstract
242,580. Reid, W., Reid, R. H., and Reid, W. Sept. 24, 1925. Rotary sieves.-In apparatus for separating flat bodies such as slate from coal or other mineral of the type comprising an inclined rotatable drum provided on its periphery with longitudinal tangential openings, means are provided for regulating the width of the openings. In the construction described, the drum consists of plates 1 fixed to end carrier rings 2 so that the leading edge, in the direction of rotation of the drum, is at a less distance from the centre than the trailing edge, leaving exits 8. The width of the exits is regulated by adjusting bolts 12, springs 11, and a stop member 13. The drum is mounted on and driven by rollers on a pair of parallel shafts. The edges of the plates are stiffened by angle-rings 7 or by flanges 6.
