R., 17, Avenue Gambatta, Bois-Colombes, both in Seine, both in France. Feb. 3, 1930, No. 3588. Convention date, April 11, 1929. [Class 103 (i).] A vehicle brake comprises an air pump driven by the vehicle wheels and connected to a compressed air reservoir and a distributing member adapted to connect the air pump and the brakes either with the atmosphere or the reservoir or to cut off both these connections. The pump 1 is operated by a cam 2 moved by the rotation of a wheel of the vehicle. The air is supplied to receivers 3 actuating the brakes. Two distributers 5, 8 control the brakes. The distributer 8 connects the receivers and the pump to atmosphere or to the distributer 5 which may then connect them to a chamber 6 or on the other hand to a hand pump 10 or a pressure air vessel. The chamber 6 is of adjustable capacity to vary the braking power and is provided with a loaded valve 7 to control the maximum braking force. The hand pump or pressure air vessel is provided to hold the wheels on stoppage.
