Abstract
443,473. Projectile fuzes. LONNSTROM, R., 13, B. Lilla Robersgatan, Helsing- fors. June 17, 1935, No. 17393. [Class 9 (i)] An instantaneous detonator cap 12 and a delay charge 13 are arranged one behind the other in a reversible case 11 at the end of the flash tube 14 of a percussion fuze, so that the fuse may be made to act with or without delay. In the position shown, the ignition of the detonator cap 12 disrupts the delay charge 13 and the action is undelayed ; in the reverse position, the delay charge 13 is first ignited and after a given delay fires the detonator cap 12. The ignition is derived from the percussion cap 5a of the percussion fuze, which may comprise a momentum striker 5 and a direct impact striker 3 normally locked by centrifugal balls 6 confined by a ring 7 adapted to be displaced forward by a sleeve 9a when this sleeve is returned forward by a spring 10 after a temporary set-back during the period of acceleration. The front of the fuze body 1 is closed by a detachable screw-plug 2. When this plug is in position, the firing of the fuze is performed by the momentum striker 5; and when the plug is removed, the striker 3 is operative.
