Abstract
683,053. Transformers and inductances. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 10, 1951 [July 13, 1950; Oct. 30, 1950], No. 16329/51. Class 38 (ii). A transformer or choke 1 is placed in a casing 3, the space between the transformer or choke and the casing being occupied by a mass of creased metal foil-such as the plugs 4 and the portion 5-having good heat conducting and non-magnetic properties so as to form a coolant for the apparatus and to prevent vibrations being transmitted from the apparatus to the casing, so obviating noisy operation. The foil is introduced when in the solid condition and is arranged to have a filling factor of from 0.05 to 0.3, the preferred foil thickness being from 10 to 100 microns. In another embodiment is shown a choke only partially encased in which case the apparatus is not hum free in operation.
