Abstract
683,099. Actuation of switches. LANDIS& GYR AKT.-GES. Dec. 28, 1950 [Dec. 31, 1949], No. 31455/50. Class 38 (v) [Also in Group XXXVIII] In regulating apparatus of the chopper bar type (see Group XXXVIII) controlling an electric'switch the means serving to control the said switch are arranged so as not to interfere with the swinging motion of the chopper bar in performing its periodic feeling action on the primary measuring mechanism. In the embodiment described a three-point switch 7 has press-buttons 26 which operate switches, for example, tubes of mercury, wherever the associated control levers 27, 28 or 29 are allowed to pivot under stress of springs 33. Each control lever has an associated rotating cam 30 which normally restrains the control lever but periodically releases it at the same time as an associated cam 23 releases a corresponding chopper bar 1, 2 or 3 to pivot about axis 4 under stress of a tension spring 25. Each chopper bar has a projection 22 which coacts with a projection 32 on the relative control lever to restrain the latter from operating its switch button 26 unless the pointer 9 is in the desired position to cause operation of the switch, in which case a respective key lever 18 presses the member 11, carried on the pointer 9, against a fixed bar 10 and prevents the chopper bar moving to lock the control lever. The cams 23 and 30 for the various switch buttons 26 may be relatively adjustable angularly so that the feeling operations for the individual switch points occur at different times. The number of switch points may be other than three by providing a corresponding number of sets of elements between the pointer 9 and switch 7.
