Abstract
771,102. Cutting tobacco. KORBER, K. Sept. 30, 1955 [Feb. 4, 1955], No. 27859/54. Class 5(1). Tobacco is fed pneumatically through a pipe 1 to the space 8 between two rotating discs 3 and 7, whereby the leaves T are slightly compressed by the centrifugal force at a peripheral outlet where they are cut or shredded for cigarettes by a rotated disc knife 28. The discs are shrouded at their periphery by the endless drive belt 14 which thereby drives them and by adjustable arcuate rails 29, 30 spaced to form the outlet. The second delivery tube 2 can be inclined on jts axis to direct the leaves to the outlet. The concave rotating disc 3 may be provided with radial V-grooves 37, Fig.5, so that the stems of the leaves tend to align themselves along the grooves whereby they become cut transversely producing a more homogeneous mixture. Adjustment of the guide rail 29 determines the thickness of the cut tobacco.
