772,425. Induction heating. GILBERT, N. W. Feb. 18, 1953, No. 33035/56. Divided out of 772,424. Class 39(3) A cylinder 1 which may form part of an extrusion or injection moulding press is heated by a number of induction heating units assembled to and around it, and each unit comprises a two piece magnetizable shell with radial pole pieces 11 about which insulated multi-turn coils 4a are wound. The pieces 5a. 5b of the shell are held against the cylinder by screws 10. The coils may be connected in series or in parallel with an A.C. supply preferably having a frequency of between 25 and 100 cycles/sec., and may be controlled by one or more thermostats.
