Abstract
772,485. Keyboard musical instruments. WOODSIDE, A. M. July 6, 1955 [Dec. 28, 1953], No. 35969/53. Class 88 (2). Each key F of a pupil's keyboard is adapted to be unlatched or partly depressed, e.g. by means of a solenoid 13, when the corresponding key M on a teacher's keyboard is depressed. This enables the pupil to locate the required key, by touch alone if desired, and to complete the depression of the key in order to sound the corresponding note. The sounds may be produced either by the pupil's instrument or by the teacher's. In the latter case the depression of the pupil's key F causes a solenoid 37 to withdraw a stop 30 from the corresponding teacher's key M so that the teacher may complete its operation. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the solenoid 37 directly actuates the teacher's key M. For normal playing, the stops 30 may be retained in the retracted position by means of a manually rotatable rod 46 carrying a series of cams 47.
