Abstract
The invention comprises O,O-dimethyl-O-2-monochlorovinyl phosphoric acid ester of the formula (OCH3)2P(O).O-CH = CHCl. It may be obtained by reacting dichloroacetaldehyde with trimethyl phosphite or with a salt of dimethyl phosphite. The reaction is preferably carried out in an inert organic solvent such as ether, benzene or toluene at temperatures from 0 DEG to 100 DEG C. In an example dichloroacetaldehyde in benzene is added dropwise at 20 DEG C. to trimethylphosphite dissolved in benzene and the temperature is maintained at 50 DEG C. by cooling. The mixture is then stirred for an hour, dried over sodium sulphate and then distilled to yield the ester as a colourless water-miscible oil. The ester is stated to have pesticidal properties and may be used in admixture with an inert diluent or carrier (see Group VI). Specification 783,697 is referred to.ALSO:A pesticidal composition comprises O,O-dimethyl - O - 2 - mono - chlorovinylphosphoric acid ester (see Group IV (b)) together with an inert diluent or carrier. The composition may be in the form of an aqueous solution prepared by diluting with water a mixture of the ester in an organic solvent and containing an emulsifying agent. Specification 783,697 is referred to.
