Abstract

852,425. Drive for winding-means. LEESONA HOLT Ltd., [formerly TWO GATES MILL Ltd.], Nov. 11, 1958 [Nov. 16, 1957], No. 35749/57. Class 120(2). To keep the tension constant during winding, a spindle 10 carrying a package and driving a cam controlling the thread-laying guide, is driven from a member 11 by an eddy-current clutch comprising permanent magnets 16 on the driving member which is driven at constant speed and rotates freely on the spindle and a driven-member 18 secured to the spindle and provided with an annular copper ring 20. According to the Provisional Specification, the driving-member may be moved relatively to the driven-member to vary the torque.
