930,407. Hedge-cutters; reaping machines. D. R. BOMFORD. Jan. 24, 1962 [Jan. 24, 1961], No. 2818/61. Classes 6(2) and 6(3). A tractor-mounted hedge cutter comprises a cutter 17 carried by a beam 16 to which is pivoted a lever arm 20 one end of which is pivoted at 21 to a link 22 pivoted on the support structure 11. The other end of the lever is pivoted to a link 25 connected with a spring.26 so that when the cutter meets an obstacle the beam 16 swings rearwardly carrying with it the lever 20 thereby extending the spring and causing it to move closer to the beam 16 so that the resistance of the spring to movement of the beam diminishes as the beam swings rearwardly.
