940,468. Centrifugal separators. SILKEBORG MASKINFABRIK A.S. May 25, 1962, No. 20284/62. Heading B2P. In an atomizing plant for the manufacture of dried milk products in which the atomized powder material is separated from carrier air in at least one cyclone 1, the air is sucked out through a vacuum pipe 3 and the powder material drops through a discharge opening 8 into a conveyer pipe 4, 5 where it is conveyed by an air current produced by a fan 7, and throttled through a regulating nozzle 9 so as to establish sub-atmospheric pressure opposite the opening 8. The sub-atmospheric pressure inside the cyclone 1 and in the opening 8 are maintained substantially equal so that atmospheric air which may contain moisture is prevented from entering the cyclone from the conveyer pipe. The nozzle is attached to a filter 6. Arms 10 driven by a motor 11 extend through the opening 8 and serve to remove powdered deposits from the wall of the lower part of the cyclone. The inlet pipe 2 for the material and carrier air is tangential.
