[Also in Divisions H2 and H5] In an electrical water heater tank 1 having a U-shaped heating bar 2 soldered to its base 3, a transmission member 5 of substantially the same coefficient of expansion as the bar 2 is secured at 4 to the bar and connected externally of the tank to an indicating member 7 and/or switching member 8 controlling the heating of the tank. The expansion of member 5 compensates for the expansion of the bar 2 due to an increase in the temperature of the water, but on overheating of the bar a displacement occurs which affects members 7 and 8.
