[Also in Division D1] An apparatus for shearing fabric comprises an electric motor driving a toothed cutter disc, and a work-engaging plate attached to the motor by distance pieces so as to lie beneath and close to the cutter disc, the plate being formed with a triangular notch extending to the periphery of the cutter disc. As shown, a motor 11, provided with a handle 25 and controlled by a switch 27, drives a toothed cutting disc 13 positioned within a circular aperture 24 formed in a circular plate 18 attached to the motor casing by spacing members 22, 30. Disc 13 co-operates with one edge of a triangular notch 17 formed in plate 18, said edge being flush with an edge of a semicircular plate 16b fixed to plate 18 by rivets 29. A springy semicircular plate 16a is pivoted to plate 18 by a rivet 19 and is held in adjusted angular position by a screw 21 passing through a slot 20, to vary the position of the other edge 28 of notch 17.
