Abstract
972,796. Rotary pumps. MONO PUMPS (AFRICA) (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. Aug. 8, 1963 [Sept. 10, 1962], No. 31303/63. Heading F1F. In a pump comprising two rotor and stator pump units of the Moineau type, each unit of opposite hand, is arranged in a common casing 1 adapted to be connected at its top to a rising main, wherein the two stators 2 and 3 are separated by a common annular side inlet chamber 12, wherein the two rotors 4 and 5 are hollow and form together a common bore such that the upper pump unit delivers upwardly directly into the rising main, while the lower pump unit delivers downwardly into reverse flow chamber 14, up the common bore and out through ports 8 into the rising main. As shown, the casing 1 is of tubular form of circular cross-section suitable for use in boreholes. The stators 2 and 3 are made of resilient material, e.g. rubber and are fixed to the inside of the casing, e.g. by an adhesive. The top end of the upper rptor 4 is connected to a driving shaft 9 by means of universal couplings 10.
