Abstract

Η εφεύρεση αυτή αφορά νέα μπαλόνια με ειδικά χαρακτηριστικά που θα χρησιμοποιούνται για τη βαλβιδοπλαστική της αορτικής αλλά δυνητικά και των άλλων καρδιακών βαλβίδων, και φέρουν επίστρωση εκλυόμενηςφαρμακευτικής ουσίας σε ολόκληρη ή σε τμήμα της εξωτερικής επιφάνειας του θαλάμου τους, η οποία επιδρά προληπτικά κατά της επαναστένωσης που συνήθως επέρχεται μετά άλλοτε άλλο χρονικό διάστημα. Το σχήμα του μπαλονιού είναι το κλασσικό κυλινδρικό ή σε σχήματα κλεψύδρας για στοχευμένη εναπόθεση της εκλυόμενης φαρμακευτικής ουσίας στους ιστούς της στενωμένης βαλβίδας. Αλλα σχήματα μπαλονιών περιγράφονται (για χρήση μετά από τη βαλβιδοπλαστική) για στοχευόμενη απελευθέρωση φαρμάκου στην άνω επιφάνεια ή και στις δύο επιφάνειες των γλωχίνων, καθώς και για την παρατεταμένη παραμονή τους σε επαφή μετις γλωχίνες της αορτικής βαλβίδας χωρίς διακοπή της καρδιακής λειτουργίας. Το πλεονέκτημα αυτής της εφεύρεσης είναι ότι με την τοπική εναπόθεση της φαρμακευτικής ουσίας μειώνεται σημαντικά η πιθανότητα επαναστένωσης και έτσι τα οφέλη του ασθενούς απότην επέμβαση διατηρούνται μακροχρόνια, ώστε αυτή η θεραπεία να θεωρείται περισσότερο τελική παρά παρηγορική.
