Abstract

ία κατασκευή κυματοθραύστου περιλαμβάνουσα εν πλωτόν συγκρότημα εξ ενός ή περισσοτέρων επιμήκων μελών, τουλάχιστον εν εκ των οποίων έχει μίαν άνω, διαμήκως εκτεινομένην και εγκαρσίως κεκλιμένην επιφάνειαν, και τουλάχιστον εν εκ των οποίων είναι κοίλον και κλειστόν και έχει μέσα διά των οποίων δύναται να πληρωθή μετά ρευστού, οπότε το συγκρότημα έχει μίαν μάζαν ήτις εν συνδυασμώ με τας διαστάσεις της προκαλεί το συγκρότημα να έχη μεγάλας φυσικάς περιόδους ταλαντώσεως κατά το διάστημα κυλίσεως, σκαμπανεβάσματος και αντηνεμίσεως και μέσα προς αγκυροβολίαν του συγκροτήματος εις την θέσιν του, τηςβυθισμένης καθέτου διαστάσεως του συγκροτήματος όταν ευρίσκεται εν χρήσει ούσης ουχί μικροτέρας τουεύρους του μεγαλύτερου κύματος το οποίον επιθυμείται να αποσβεσθή, χαρακτηριζομένη εκ του ότι, τα μέσα αγκυροβολίας και η πλευστότης του συγκροτήματος είναι τοιαύτα ώστε το συγκρότημα να επιπλέη εις μίαν θέσιν όπου η κεκλιμένη άνω επιφάνεια είναι επί της στάθμης ηρεμούντος ύδατος ή γειτονικώς προςταύτην και εστραμμένην ως προς τα προσπίπτοντα κύματα, οπότε ταύτα εξαναγκάζονται να θραυσθούν διερχόμενα άνωθεν του κυματοθραύστου.
