Lubricants for the valves of brass instruments like trumpets are prepd. by mixing kerosene solns. of glycerol-monostearate, glycerol-monooleate or glycerol-monoricinoleate with a mixt. of silicone oil and a light mineral oil which has been purified with water and activated carbon.
