Abstract

Protective coatings for the large concrete surfaces of engineering structures like cooling towers, chimneys, silos or basins, consist of a two component aq. dispersion mixt. which is applied in at least two layers to the concrete surfaces, pref. to fresh 6-9 hrs. old concrete surfaces. The dispersions are mixed in the wt. ratio 1:1 to 1:3 from components (A) and (B). - Component (A) is made up of 0-20 pts. wt. cement, 0-20 pts. wt. thermoplastic polymer, with known additives like mineral fillers, pigments, aliphatic or aromatic ketones, a diane-diglycidyl-ether type resin with a viscosity of 12000-20000 mPa having an epoxy equiv. of 185-195, and 5-40 pts. wt. stabilising additive based on the resin. The stabilising additive is opt. a mixt. of a 1-4C mono-alcohol, glycerol or polyglycol-ether and an alkali-metal-alkyl-sulphonate. - (B) is a modified polyamide type crosslinker.
