Abstract

Improved prepn. of 2,4,7-triamino- phenyl-pteridine (VII) consists of a two step reaction carried out in the same reaction mix at 50-130 deg.C in the presence of a base. Solvents used are of alcohol, alcohol-ether or amide type. The first step consists of heating iso-nitroso-malonic-dinitride (V) guanidine salt to form 2,4,6-triamino -5-nitroso-pyrimidine (IV). Benzylcyanide reacts with (IV) in the second step to obtain (VII).
