Abstract
Vapour is removed from the satd. drying medium by the use of a hygroscopic soln. in one or more stages. The heat content of the drying medium and of the vapour carried by it is removed by the hygroscopic soln., which itself is cooled down to its original temp. by heat exchanger(s). - In the method, the gas/vapour mixt. leaving the drying equipment is contacted with the hygroscopic soln., possibly in more than one stage, until the desired redn. of vapour content is achieved. The diluted and warmed soln. is used to reheat the drying medium which is re-usable. The diluted hygroscopic soln. is regenerated by heating or reverse osmosis. - The proposed equipment typically comprises absorbers whose gas-side inlet is connected to the discharge of the drying unit (1) or of the upstream absorber stage (3). The absorbers (3, 5) discharge gas back to the drier, possibly via heat exchanger(s).
