Abstract
Wastes of high protein content as furs, raw and tanned leather, shoe and leather goods manufacturings wastes are decomposed by enzymes in acidified and heated media hydrolysed proteins are sepd. from wool, and solns. obtd. may be processed further. Wastes are treated by enzymes in vats pref. fitted with baskets and lifting reels, at 30-40 deg.C for 10-140 hrs., while acid is added to maintain pH-5 at1-2. 6.2-0.3g pepos conc. plo./l is added (1g of applied prepn. hydrolyses 1000-1500g eg. albumin). Wool is removed by the basket on completion of hydrolysis followed by water and steam washing and centrifuging. Chromic oxides and chlorides produced as a result of hydrolysis are also removed by known mean
