Description

A találmány a szervetlen kémia egyik területére, közelebbről poralaku, igen magasan olvadó szervetlen vegyületek és fémes anyagkeverékek előállítási eljárására vonatkozik. The invention relates to the field of inorganic chemistry, and more particularly to a process for preparing powdered, very high-melting inorganic compounds and metallic material mixtures.

A találmány a porkohászatban, keményfémek, hőálló és kémiailag agresszív termékekkel szemben ellenálló szerkezeti anyagok, valamint kerámiai kötőanyagok előállítása során alkalmazható.The invention can be used in powder metallurgy, in the production of hard metals, structural materials resistant to heat and chemically aggressive products, and ceramic binders.

Jelenleg is ismert igen magasan olvadó szervetlen vegyületek - különösen a periódusos rendszer IV., V. és VI. csoportjába tartozó fémek karbidjainak, boridjainak, szilicidjeinek és nitridjeinek - előállítására alkalmas eljárás (lásd az 1 497 025 számú nagy-britanniai szabadalmi leírást).A process for the preparation of very high melting inorganic compounds, in particular carbides, borides, silicides and nitrides of metals belonging to groups IV, V and VI of the periodic table, is also known (see British Patent Specification No. 1,497,025).

In the implementation of this process, the oxide of at least one of the metals belonging to groups IV, V or VI of the periodic table is mixed with a metallic reducing agent, such as aluminum, magnesium, calcium and nitrogen, carbon, wine or silicon. In the reaction space, a synthesis reaction takes place between the aforementioned components under controlled combustion conditions, during which the components react exothermically and spontaneously at a pressure of the gaseous medium in the reaction space of 100 kPa to 500 MPa. In the meantime, the combustion temperature reaches 4000-5000 °C, as a result of which a bulk product is obtained.

Keményfémeknek igen magasan olvadó szervetlen vegyületekből kiinduló előállítása során az adott keverékhez 5-20 tömegszázalék (a következőkben rövidítve: t%) mennyiségben nikkelt, kobaltot, molibdént vagy e fémek oxidját adják. A mechanikai sajátságok (hőállóság, kopási szilárdság, keménység) javítása céljából (keményfémek esetében) ugyancsak ötvözeteket adagolnak, például 1-5 t% mangánt alkalmaznak. Az elegy illékony komponensei forrásának,During the production of hard metals from very high melting inorganic compounds, 5-20% by weight (abbreviated as t%) of nickel, cobalt, molybdenum or oxides of these metals are added to the given mixture. In order to improve the mechanical properties (heat resistance, wear resistance, hardness) (in the case of hard metals), alloys are also added, for example 1-5% by weight of manganese is used. As a source of volatile components of the mixture,

valamint a végtermék dissuciálásának elkerülése céljából a szintézist 100 és 500 MPa nyomású gázatmoszférában hajtják végre.and to avoid dissociation of the final product, the synthesis is carried out in a gas atmosphere with a pressure of 100 and 500 MPa.

During the synthesis, on the one hand, the final product and on the other hand, a slag is formed, which contains the oxide of the reducing agent, so the final product and the slag are in a liquid state at the synthesis temperature and are miscible due to their different specific gravities. According to this process, very high melting compounds can be synthesized in the form of compact, homogeneous products. However, the production of powders from compact products is accompanied by additional difficulties, since it requires grinding and classification and does not result in a homogeneous powder.

Ismert igen magasan olvadó anyagok - közelebbről a periódusos rendszer III. és IV. csoportjába tartozó fémek nitridjeinek előállítására alkalmas eljárás (4 459 363 számú Egyesült Államokbeli szabadalmi leírás), aminek során nátrium-azidot fémkalciummal vagy fémmagnéziummal és sztöchiometrikus mennyiségű ritkaföldfém-oxiddal - azaz a III. és IV. csoportba tartozó fémek oxidjával elegyítenek. Az igy előkészített elegyet gyulladási hőmérsékletre hevítik, s igy az elegy - mivel hőmérséklete megmarad - addig ég, amíg igen magasan olvadó nitridvegyület keletkezik.A process for the preparation of very high-melting materials - more specifically, nitrides of metals belonging to groups III and IV of the periodic table - is known (United States Patent No. 4,459,363), in which sodium azide is mixed with metallic calcium or metallic magnesium and a stoichiometric amount of rare-earth oxide - i.e., oxides of metals belonging to groups III and IV. The mixture thus prepared is heated to the ignition temperature, and thus the mixture - since its temperature is maintained - burns until a very high-melting nitride compound is formed.

Mivel a kiinduló keverék egyik komponense azid, ez az eljárás nem teszi lehetővé a nitrideken kívül más, magasan olvadó porformáju fémvegyületek előállítását. Továbbá a III. Nemfémek nitridjeinek - például szilicium-nitridnek - a szintézise során a nitrid átalakulása az önként végbemenő, magas • ·Since one of the components of the starting mixture is azide, this process does not allow the production of other high-melting powder metal compounds other than nitrides. Furthermore, in the synthesis of nitrides of metals of groups III and IV, this process does not allow for large-scale production, because it is fire and explosion hazardous: this synthetic process is accompanied by the formation of 7.5 liters of gaseous sodium per mole of metal nitride. In the synthesis of nitrides of non-metals - for example, silicon nitride - the transformation of the nitride occurs spontaneously, at high • ·

- 4 hőmérsékletű szintézis és a viszonylag csekély nitrogénnyomás következtében tökéletlenül mehet végbe, mivel a szilicium-nitrid disszociálhat (elbomolhat).- 4 Due to the synthesis at a temperature and the relatively low nitrogen pressure, it may not proceed perfectly, as the silicon nitride may dissociate (decompose).

Another process is also known for the preparation of very high-melting carbides, borides, silicides, sulfides and nitrides of metals belonging to groups IV-VI of the periodic system (United States Patent No. 3,726,643). According to this patent, powder of metals belonging to groups IV-VI of the periodic system is mixed with carbon, leather, silicon, sulfur or nitrogen as starting components. The mixture thus prepared is ignited by a heat source - more specifically, tungsten wire, chromium-nickel wire and a collector mixture, and the spontaneous, high-temperature synthesis is carried out in an inert gas atmosphere. This results in a conglomerate of different sized, sintered, coarse particles, which makes further use of the product difficult as it requires grinding and classification.

The extremely high-melting compounds of the elements of groups I, II, III and VIII cannot be synthesized by the latter method, since the transformation of these groups with boron, silicon, carbon and nitrogen is a slightly exothermic process, and consequently the spontaneous synthetic reaction at high temperatures cannot be realized, or can only be realized imperfectly.

Mindezek alapján a technika jelenlegi állása szerint az igen magasan olvadó szervetlen vegyületek és fémes anyagkeverékek ismert eljárásai nem teszik lehetővé olyan, finom eloszlású porok előállítását, amelyek kémiai és fázisösszetétel szempontjából homogének, jelenleg a finom diszperzitásu porokat durvább porok• · · · • · • · · · · • · · ··· ·· · · • · ····«· · ··· ·· · ·· ból vagy igen magasan olvadó, zsugorított termékekből állítják elő golyósmalomban végzett őrléssel.Based on all this, according to the current state of the art, the known processes for very high melting inorganic compounds and metallic material mixtures do not allow the production of finely dispersed powders that are homogeneous in terms of chemical and phase composition. Currently, finely dispersed powders are produced from coarser powders or from very high melting, sintered products by grinding in a ball mill.

However, the grinding process is time-consuming, and since very high-melting materials wear out the mill, the resulting powder may be contaminated with the mill's structural material. Since the particle size of the starting products is not homogeneous, the ground powder will not be sufficiently homogeneous either. After grinding, the particle size of the compounds produced between the grindings varies between 5 and 10 µm. As a result, the physical-mechanical and operational properties of the products produced from the ground powder deteriorate.

Ennek során a találmány szerint olyan sarzsot alkalmazunk, amelyhez kiegészitőlegThe related task is solved by first preparing a batch (production batch) during the production of powdered, very high-melting inorganic compounds and metallic material mixtures, which contains an element of groups IV-VI of the periodic table and an additional element of nitrogen, carbon, leather, silicon, grease or phosphorus; this batch is brought into the reaction space, where the spontaneous synthesis reaction of the end product takes place at high temperature and the end product is subsequently separated from the reaction space. In order to obtain a final product with a homogeneous particle composition and to reduce the particle size of the powdery compounds and mixtures of materials that can be produced, according to the invention, the batch is suitably prepared in such a way that it contains, as additives, oxides of metals belonging to Group II of the Periodic Table in an amount of 5-25%, based on the weight of the mixture, and alkali metal halides and/or ammonium halides and/or polystyrene and/or polyethylene and/or urea in an amount of 1-5%, based on the weight of the mixture.

Igen magasan olvadó szervetlen vegyület előállitása céljából - amelynek homogén szemcsemérete 2-5 ^urn - a találmány értelmében olyan sarzsot alkalmazunk, amely 56,0 t% titán-oxidot, 8,3 t% szenet, 35,6 t% magnéziumot és adalékként 10,0 % magnézium-oxidot és 3,0 % polisztirolt tartalmaz a keverék tömegére vonatkoztatva, és a végterméket a szintézis temékéből sósavoldat alkalmazásával különítjük el.In order to produce a very high melting inorganic compound - having a homogeneous particle size of 2-5 µm - according to the invention, a batch is used which contains 56.0% by weight of titanium oxide, 8.3% by weight of carbon, 35.6% by weight of magnesium and as additives 10.0% by weight of magnesium oxide and 3.0% by weight of polystyrene, based on the weight of the mixture, and the final product is separated from the synthesis products using hydrochloric acid solution.

Elemi titánt és nikkelt tartalmazó, 2,0-5,0 yum részecskeméretű fémes anyagkeverék előállitása céljából a találmány értelmében olyan sarzsot készítünk elő, amely 26,50 t% titán-dioxidot, 25,5 t% nikkel-oxidot, 26,50 t% kalciumot, 21,45 t% cinket, 0,05 t% krómot és adalékként 24,0 % kalcium-oxidot tartalmaz a keverék tömegére vonatkoztatva, és a végterméket a szintézis termékének kénsavoldatos kezelésével különítjük el.In order to produce a metallic material mixture containing elemental titanium and nickel, with a particle size of 2.0-5.0 μm, according to the invention, a batch is prepared which contains 26.50 t% titanium dioxide, 25.5 t% nickel oxide, 26.50 t% calcium, 21.45 t% zinc, 0.05 t% chromium and 24.0 % calcium oxide as an additive, based on the weight of the mixture, and the final product is isolated by treating the synthesis product with sulfuric acid solution.

A találmány további céljai és előnyei az alább következő részletes leírásból tűnnek ki, ahol poralaku, igen magasan olvadó szervetlen vegyületek és fémes anyagkeverékek előállítási eljárását, valamint az eljárást bemutató kiviteli példákat • · ♦ · · • · ·· ·Further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the detailed description below, which describes a process for producing powdered, very high-melting inorganic compounds and metallic material mixtures, as well as examples illustrating the process.

- 8 ismertetjük.- 8 are described.

A poralaku, igen magasan olvadó szervetlen vegyületek és fémes anyagkeverékek találmány szerinti előállítása során kiinduló komponensekként az alábbiak vehetők számításba:The following can be considered as starting components in the preparation of powdered, very high-melting inorganic compounds and metallic mixtures according to the invention:

Elements belonging to groups I.-VIII. of the periodic table, alone or together, their oxides, halides - for example: elemental titanium powder together with elemental tungsten powder; elemental tungsten powder with tungsten oxide and chloride; powder containing elemental titanium, elemental tungsten, as well as tungsten chloride, titanium oxide and tungsten oxide. The mixing ratio of the given compounds depends on the chemical and phase composition requirements that are imposed on the final product; this ratio is known to be between 0 and 1.

2. A periódusos rendszer I.-III. csoportjába tartozó elemek önmagukban vagy egymással, valamint hidridjeik, például: magnéziumpor; fémkalcium pora kalcium-hidriddel tetszőleges arányban; lítium, kalcium és alumínium tetszőleges arányú keverékéből álló por; lítium, alumínium és magnézium-hidrid tetszőleges arányú keverékét tartalmazó por. A porokban a komponensek aránya az előállítandó végterméktől függ.2. Elements of groups I to III of the periodic table, alone or together, and their hydrides, for example: magnesium powder; calcium metal powder with calcium hydride in any proportion; powder consisting of a mixture of lithium, calcium and aluminium in any proportion; powder containing a mixture of lithium, aluminium and magnesium hydride in any proportion. The proportion of components in the powders depends on the final product to be produced.

Nitrogen, carbon, boron, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, and their oxides, halides, and organic compounds, alone or mixed with each other; such as nitrogen; nitrogen and carbon; carbon and boron; carbon and boron oxide; boron chloride and polyethylene; silicon with silicon oxide and silicon chloride. The mixing ratio of the given compounds depends on the requirements for the final product.

A végtermék szintézisében alkalmazott kiinduló sarzsot a fentiekben megadott három komponens összekeverésével kapjuk. A ♦ · V · • ·The starting material used in the synthesis of the final product is obtained by mixing the three components given above. A ♦ · V · • ·

- 9 • · · · ··· ♦ ·· ·· · ·· ······ ··· *· · · · találmány szerint úgy járunk el, hogy az 1. komponenst 12,00-80,95 t% mennyiségben, a 2. komponenst 19-56,5 t% mennyiségben és a 3. komponenst 0,05-31,5 t% mennyiségben alkalmazzuk.- 9 • · · · ··· ♦ ·· ·· · ·· · ·· ··· ··· *· · · · · according to the invention, the 1st component is used in an amount of 12.00-80.95 t%, the 2nd component in an amount of 19-56.5 t% and the 3rd component in an amount of 0.05-31.5 t%.

If the batch contains less than 12.0 wt% of component 1, the optimal ratio of the reaction partners deteriorates, and this disrupts (degrades) the establishment of the combustion temperature (i.e., achieving the synthesis thermometry) and the homogeneity of the phase and particle composition of the final product.

If the batch contains component 1 in an amount greater than 80.95 wt%, it will be present in excess and will act as ballast during the combustion process; as a result, the progress of the combustion front (progress of synthesis) will stop throughout the reaction space, and this will also disturb the grain homogeneity of and .

If the amount of component 2 in the batch is higher, then the excess of component 1 remains without transformation, and this also disturbs its phase homogeneity.

Ha a sarzsban a 2. komponens mennyisége végtermék fázis19,0 t%-nál keveszintézis termékében a végtermék szemcse56,5 t%-nál nagyobb, akkor e komponens feleslege a szintézis folyamán erősen párolog, és ez szintén rontja a végtermék szemcse- és fázishomogenitását.If the amount of component 2 in the batch is less than 19.0 t% of the final product phase or more than 56.5 t% of the final product grain in the synthesis product, then the excess of this component evaporates strongly during the synthesis process, and this also worsens the grain and phase homogeneity of the final product.

A sarzs 3. komponens-tartalma a sarzs 1. és 2. komponensének mennyiségéhez igazodik. The content of component 3 of the batch is adjusted to the amount of components 1 and 2 of the batch.

A találmány értelmében az 1., 2. és 3. komponensek keverésével készített sarzshoz adalékokat, közelebbről adalékként az előkészített keverék tömegére vonatkoztatva a periódusos rendszer II. csoportjához tartozó fémek oxidjait 5-25 % mennyiség··« ··· ·· · 9 • · ··*··· » ··· ·· · ·*According to the invention, additives are added to the batch prepared by mixing components 1, 2 and 3, more specifically , oxides of metals belonging to group II of the periodic table in an amount of 5-25%, based on the weight of the prepared mixture.

-10ben és/vagy az előkészített keverék tömegére vonatkoztatva-10 in and/or by weight of the prepared mixture

1-5 % alkálifém-halogenidet és/vagy ammónium-halogenidet és/vagy polisztirolt és/vagy polietilént és/vagy karbamidot adunk.1-5% alkali metal halide and/or ammonium halide and/or polystyrene and/or polyethylene and/or urea are added.

The use of additives - such as oxides of metals belonging to group II of the periodic table - allows to reduce the synthesis temperature, since these oxides do not decompose, do not contaminate the final product, the crystallization of the final product occurs under mild conditions, and thus a homogeneous, finely dispersed powder can be produced. In order to achieve homogeneity of particle size and structure, alkali metal oxides are chosen as oxides, so that they are identical to the oxides of component 2, and the final product can be cleaned from these oxides quite easily. If the amount of these oxides is less than 5% by weight, then a significant temperature decrease corresponding to the desired crystallization conditions cannot be achieved during the synthesis. If the above-mentioned oxides are used in an amount exceeding 25% by weight, the combustion temperature decreases, and this deteriorates the homogeneity of the resulting powder product.

A felsorolt anyagok bomlásából eredő, nagymennyiségű gázalaku termék »«·« ·* • >If alkali metal halides and/or ammonium halide and/or polystyrene and/or polyethylene and/or urea are added as additives to a given mixture of components 1, 2 and 3, then due to their decomposition, the synthesis temperature decreases during the synthesis, and thus a result can be obtained which is similar to the results obtained by adding oxides of Group II metals to the given mixture. The amount of alkali metal halides or ammonium halide or polystyrene or polyethylene or urea used as additives is adjusted to the amount of oxides of Group II metals used. ··· ««···· ««·

Ha viszont a bomlékony adalék 1 t%-nál nagyobb mennyiségben van jelen, akkor a szintézis hőmérséklete annyira csökken, hogy ez a végtermék homogenitását zavarja.- 11 development, the final product becomes finely dispersed in the combustion synthesis area due to the gas developed. The decomposable additive also contains elements that are necessary for the complete transformation of the final product: for example, the polymer contains carbon, which is used in the production of carbides; urea provides nitrogen for the production of nitrides. By adding alkali metal halides or ammonium halide, the synthesis temperature can be reduced without contaminating the final product, since the resulting gaseous products are easily flammable. If the decomposable additive is used in an amount of less than 1% by weight, this is not sufficient, since it does not ensure the formation of a sufficient amount of gas. On the other hand, if the decomposable additive is present in an amount of more than 1% by weight, the synthesis temperature is reduced to such an extent that the homogeneity of the final product is disturbed.

The batch prepared as described above is transferred to a reactor of known construction, which is suitable for carrying out the spontaneous, high-temperature synthesis.

AZ igy szintetizált termék égési melléktermékből származó szennyezéseket (a 2. komponens vegyületeit) tartalmaz. A végterméknek a szennyezésektől való megtisztítása céljából a szintézis termékét ásványi sav - például só- vagy kénsav - oldatával kezeljük. A savas kezelés után a végterméket 100-150 °C hőmérséklettartományban, 4-5 órán át szárítjuk. The product thus synthesized contains impurities from combustion by-products (component 2 compounds). In order to purify the final product from impurities, the synthesis product is treated with a solution of mineral acid, such as hydrochloric or sulfuric acid. After the acid treatment, the final product is dried at a temperature in the range of 100-150 °C for 4-5 hours.

E porformáju terméket alaktani szempontból a hasonló, más eljárásokkal kapott termékektől könnyen megkülönböztethetjük.The product thus obtained is homogeneous in terms of powder form, phase composition and particle size, with a particle size of 0.1-10.0 μm. This powder product can be easily distinguished from similar products obtained by other processes in terms of morphology.

A találmány szerinti eljárás segítségével az adott sajátságokkal rendelkező, poralaku terméket könnyen beszerezhető olcsó nyersanyagok, mint kiinduló komponensek, igy olcsó oxidok és halogenidek alkalmazásával - az eddigi szintézisekben alkalmazott drágább és nehezebben hozzáférhető fémporok helyett állíthatjuk elő.With the help of the process according to the invention, the powder product with the given properties can be produced by using easily available cheap raw materials as starting components, such as cheap oxides and halides - instead of the more expensive and more difficult to access metal powders used in previous syntheses.

The process according to the invention also makes it possible to produce compounds of elements belonging to groups I to VIII of the periodic table, such as boron carbide and tungsten carbide, which could not previously be produced by spontaneous, high-temperature synthesis using elemental, metallic and non-metallic starting components.

The process according to the invention is described in detail in the following non-limiting examples.

1. példa t% titán-dioxid-port, 35,7 t% magnéziumport és 8,3 t% kormot rozsdamentes acélból készült dobban 5 órán át keverünk, majd a dobba 10 t% poralaku magnézium-oxidot és 3 t% poralaku polisztirolt adunk, a port ismét keverjük, majd reaktorba visszük át, és ott a betöltés után bedöngöljük (tömörítjük). A reaktort lefedjük, kétszer-háromszor közömbös gázzal átöblitjük, majd argonnal töltjük, légmentesen lezárjuk. Ezután a sarzsot 50-60 V feszültségű, 5-20 A áramerősségü áramforrással összekötött wolframspirál segítségével begyújtjuk. A sarzs égési hőmérséklete eléri a 2300 °C-ot. A sarzs teljes elégése után a reaktort a benne lévő végtermékkel együtt 18 °C-ra hütjük. The reactor is covered, flushed with inert gas two or three times, then filled with argon, and sealed airtight. Then the charge is ignited using a tungsten spiral connected to a 50-60 V voltage, 5-20 A current source. The combustion temperature of the charge reaches 2300 °C. This results in a powder of titanium carbide (TiC), which consists of uniform, dark grey particles with a size of 2-5 µm. This product is single-phase and has a cubic, sodium chloride-type crystal lattice.

Az igy előállított titánkarbidot keményfémek és csiszolópaszták előállításához előzetes előkészítése (aprítás, osztályozás) nélkül használhatjuk. The titanium carbide produced in this way can be used for the production of hard metals and abrasive pastes without prior preparation (crushing, classification).

A fentebb részletesen leirt példán kívül további 145 kísérletünk eredményét mutatjuk be, amelyek kivitelezése során részben a fenti 1. példában megadott körülményeket tartottuk meg, azonban a szintézis fizikai-kémiai körülményeit - igy a hőmérsékleti viszonyokat, nyomást, a keverék összetételét és egyes más tényezőket - változtattuk, amint ezt az 1. táblázatban illusztráljuk. In addition to the example described in detail above, we present the results of 145 additional experiments, during the implementation of which we partly maintained the conditions given in Example 1 above, but changed the physicochemical conditions of the synthesis - such as temperature conditions, pressure, mixture composition and some other factors - as illustrated in Table 1.
