Novel general cleaning agent with added scouring and pH regulating action, contains aliphatic polyols and additives, namely (all wt.%): 60-80 calcium or magnesium carbonate for scouring action, 5-10 sodium hydrogen carbonate to regulate pH. 0.05-0.5 polyethylene-glycol (as polyol) and in addn.: 1-5 sodium gluconate complexing agent, 105 sodium perborate and 1-5 sodium carboxy-methyl-cellulose 0.05-0.5 scent, 1-2 glycerol (opt.) 0.5-1 quaternary salt and 0-35 water, sufficient to form a paste
