Abstract

The invention relates to a brake assembly for rail vehicles having at least one wheel axle which is driven by a coupled engine/transmission unit and in which the unit is connected, avoiding an intermediate wheel, to the wheel axle preferably via a hollow shaft which concentrically encloses this wheel axle and the wheel axle or the hollow shaft is connected in terms of drive to a disc brake which is arranged on the side of the wheel axle lying opposite the unit, the brake disc (8) being mounted on a brake shaft (4) which is arranged parallel to the wheelset axle and to the engine axle and is mounted on the engine/transmission unit (1, 2) on two sides. <IMAGE>
