Abstract

7-Chloro-1-methyl-5-phenyl-1,4-3H-benzodiazepin-2(1H)-one chloral hydrate (I) with the following properties.: m.p. 110 deg.C I.R. absorption bands at 1670 and 3430 cm-1. Tranquilliser, anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant. Reaction of equimolar amts. of 7-chloro-1-methyl-5-phenyl-1,4-3H-benzodiazepin-2(1H)-one (II) and chloral hydrate (III), either with heating or in a solvent. [CH505117A]
